Hey all! A huge thank you and congratulations to the Inkscape community for all of their effort as Inkscape 0.48 is now out! As usual, please show the news items some love at all the usual places (here are a few). http://www.reddit.com/r/software/comments/d4p1h/inkscape_048_is_out/ http://digg.com/software/Inkscape_0_48_is_out http://slashdot.org/submission/1315486/Inkscape-048-is-out http://news.deviantart.com/article/126847/ Cheers, Josh

I am still using .46 as I find it easier for some of the effects I want to get. Is there any way I can test the new version and still keep .46 on my computer to use ? regards, Joanne

Depends which OS you are using. You could install Ubuntu on a USB stick and install Inkscape .48 on that. Or on Windows just install and do a system rollback if you don't like the new version.

Compile it but don't do a make install. Run inkscape .48 from inside
the src directory. Or run ./configure --prefix=~/inkscape0.48 && make
&& make install and you will find inkscape in ~/inkscape0.48/bin.

On win it's much easier to just dl the zip version and have it in a separate folder that u can delete than mess about with system rollback. Sent from my iPhone

I find it can be very useful having programs that can do that. -- Will J Godfrey http://www.musically.me.uk Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
