Draw rectangle,
"Object to path"
Click a side of the rectangle
"insert new nodes"
"insert new nodes"
position as needed,
"split path between nodes"

Or

Draw a rectangle,
draw a shape that defines the chunk of the wall to be missing,
"Path/Difference"
then edit path by nodes,
then split path,
then delete nodes as needed.

Object to path, double click, double click, select the bit in the
middle,
and do delete segment (6th button in from left on toolbar)

that delete segment applies to the difference method too.

Thanks. That's a simple explanation.
I've made a visual step-by-step version.
SVG Attached.

To break the rectangle down completely convert the strokes to paths too.
